POLICE have confirmed the search for an 11-year-old boy who was reported to have fallen into the River Towy yesterday will continue this morning.

However, at a press conference this morning Dyfed Powys Police Inspector Eric Evans said he was "not 100 per cent sure" the boy had gone into the river.

Insp Evans said there was always an "element of doubt" when dealing with children.

The emergency services began their search just after 4pm yesterday in the area around the river in Carmarthen following a report that a boy had gone into the water.

The Coastguard, an RAF Seaking helicopter, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service’s specialist water rescue team and inshore lifeboat teams from Tenby, Llanstephan, Ferryside and Burry Port were involved in the search last night.

Morning than 50 people were said to have been taking opart in the search.

A spokesman from Dyfed-Powys-Police confirmed the search will continue throughout the day: "The search is on-going for the missing 11-year-old this morning.

“There is no further update at this point.”

Inspector Eric Evans will convene at The Heritage Centre in Carmarthen this morning to make a formal statement.

The family of the 11-year-old boy are currently being looked after while the search continues.
