An Ammanford shoplifter sentenced to seven-and-a-half-months jail in January has seen another five weeks added to her sentenced after further thefts were uncovered.

Daisy May Owens, of 9 Heol Wallasey, was jailed after she was caught stealing clothing from Llandeilo boutique Variations on December 29.

The theft came just 11 days after the 46-year-old received a 20-week suspended jail term when she admitted burglary and two shoplifting offences at stores in Ammanford.

However, since Owens was jailed, staff at a second Llandeilo boutique have come forward.

Staff at the King Street branch of Toast reported a dress, a pair of trousers and a throw, with a combined value of £297.50, were stolen on December 29.

Owens appeared before magistrates at Llanelli via video link from prison to admit the offence.

She was jailed for five weeks, with the sentence to run concurrently with her current term.

At the previous hearing, the court was told how Owens life had spiralled out of control since her young son drowned in the 1990s.

“Her problems began at that time,” defence solicitor Mike Reed told the court.

“She does now have a drink problem.

“She is making progress, but every now and then she slips up and gets herself into trouble.

“This was one of those slips.”
