A FORMER AMMANFORD nightclub is to be given a new life as a site of new homes.

Carmarthenshire County Council have granted permission for the disused Ty Coch buildings, on Maesquarre Road, Betws, to be converted into a home and have also granted outline planning for three new builds on land at the north of the site.

The plans, which were submitted by under new plans submitted by agents JCR Planning of Llanelli on behalf of Mr and Mrs Davies, will see the club and manager’s accommodation converted into a house with no external or internal changes being made to the structure. The outline plans could see three, two storey, four bedroomed structures.

Currently the land contains a mix of old buildings, vacant and unused for some time with the report to council stating: ‘The proposal represents an opportunity to redevelop a brownfield site that has been underused and redundant for some considerable time, even when the building to the south of the site was used for the purposes of a nightclub.’

In agreeing to the proposals, Carmarthenshire County Council stated that the plans would retain the character of the building and the development would cause no undue problems with access, amenities or nature.
