Women across Carmarthenshire are being encouraged to increase their earning potential by targeting careers in the currently male-dominated ICT sector.

On Wednesday, January 21, women wanting to enter or progress within the ICT sector are invited to attend a free networking event at the Village Hotel in Swansea to connect with like-minded women and seasoned industry experts for advice on career development and opportunities within the fast-growing ICT sector.

At present less than one in five design and development engineers, ICT strategists and planners and software professionals are women.

The Swansea event is being organised by WIC Wales (Women in ICT and Construction), part of the WAVE programme– Women Adding Value to the Economy – which is part funded by the Convergence European Social Fund through the Welsh Government.

WAVE is a partnership programme led by the University of South Wales in partnership with Cardiff University and the Women’s Workshop Project @ BAWSO.

Karen Newton, serial entrepreneur, investor and writer will be speaking at the event about how you can make it with a ‘can do’ attitude and her experience of running multiple businesses.

As an owner of 19 businesses, Karen has got a vast knowledge across a variety of sectors but puts all of her success down to her positive attitude and dedicated work ethic.

The event at the Village Hotel takes place between 6pm and 8pm.
