Dyfed-Powys Police has unveiled a plaque honouring the officers from its historical constituent forces who sign up to serve during World War One.

A Service of Dedication, was conceived and conducted by Force Chaplain Reverend Tom Evans, was held at the Force HQ in Llangunnor on November 28.

The plaque was unveiled by the High Sheriffs of Dyfed and Powys, Elinor Jones and Philip Bowen.

The plaque and service were part of the Force's efforts to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the war with Chief Constable Simon Prince keen to create a lasting memorial to the officers who paid the ultimate price for their country.

As a result of press appeals and research, 16 Officers from the constituent forces were identified and immortalised on the tribute of Welsh Slate.

At the dedication service, former Dyfed-Powys Police officer John Morgan played the Last Post and Reveille.

Another former Dyfed-Powys officer, Reverend Martin Spain - now the Army Reserve Force Chaplain - read an extract from Up to Mametz and Beyond by Llewelyn Wyn Griffiths.

Also present at the service were Lord Lieutenants, The Hon Robin Lewis OBE and The Hon Sha?n Legge-Bourke, the Army Cadet Corps from Llanelli, pupils and staff from Llangunnor Primary School, and Noel Duston and John Grimes (Standard Bearer) from the Welsh Royal British Legion.

Also present were relatives of the officers remembered, including 86-year-old Eileen Ash, whose great uncle Rees Connick served in the Carmarthen Constabulary prior to joining the Royal Navy .

Ammanford's Côr Persain ladies choir provided choral accompaniment.
