A NEWLY-RECRUITED police officer from Ammanford who was heavily involved in the development in Neighbourhood Policing Teams has been recognised for her efforts at an awards ceremony.

PC Sophie Lambert, 26, scooped Dyfed-Powys Police’s Star Apprentice Student Officer award at The Big Celebration event organised by Skills for Justice at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.

PC Lambert was nominated by lead trainer Angela Williams, who said: “PC Lambert has great respect for members of her community and as a result of this provides excellent customer service to the public.

“She is a highly-respected member of the area and members of the public engage with her very easily.

“She is a very passionate officer, and puts her all into everything that she does.

“Although she has only been out in the operational field a few weeks she has already settled into her shift and other officers are turning to her for advice and support as she has the wealth of knowledge and understanding to pass on.”

PC Lambert said: “I am grateful to have won this award and I would like to thank the fantastic trainers at Dyfed-Powys for all their help and support they have given me during my apprenticeship.

“Being a police officer is a challenging career and you need as much support as possible, I have been lucky enough to have worked with some great officers and learnt a lot from them.”
