Staff at Specsavers, Ammanford, raised more than £400 for Velindre Cancer Centre throughout October.

The fundraising events culminated in a Halloween fun day where staff dressed up in scary costumes and held a raffle to win a Halloween hamper full of spooky sweets and spectacle cleaning products, as well as offering face painting for children.

Throughout October, the staff raised £430.03 for the cancer charity, which is Specsavers’ national Charity of the Year in Wales.

Kevin McCarthy, director of Specsavers in Ammanford, said: "I am delighted to have raised such an impressive total for Velindre in just one month and everyone really got into the Halloween spirit on our final day of fundraising.

"The event was really popular, with lots of visitors calling in to enter our raffle and for their own ‘little monsters’ to have their faces painted.

"Velindre is a very deserving cause that helps people across Wales who are facing cancer, and we are very proud to support them in store."

Velindre provides specialist cancer care for more than 1.5 million people across Wales.

Collectively Specsavers stores are aiming to raise £5,000 for the charity.
