The National Trust is to make its presence felt in Llandeilo this festive season thanks to the opening of a “pop-up” shop in the town.

The Rhosmaen Street unit, previously home to Threshers off-licence, has been let to the conservation charity until the end of December and will see the conservation charity on hand to welcome the thousands of visitors set to descend on the Two Valley town for the Festival of the Senses and the Llandeilo Edwardian Christmas Fayre at Dinefwr, to be held later this month.

Both festivals draw shoppers from across the country looking to find unique or handcrafted Christmas gifts for their loved ones.

“The Llandeilo Edwardian Christmas Fayre at Dinefwr and the Festival of Senses are not combined this year so we thought it was important for the National Trust to have a presence in the town”, said Carl Willett, retail manager for National Trust Carmarthenshire.

“The pop-up shop will complement the retail offer that we currently have at Newton House in Dinefwr Park, but it certainly won’t be a replica of it. We want our visitors to have a different shopping experience at both sites.

“Whist this venture is primarily an opportunity to showcase our range of quality National Trust products, it’s also chance to link our Dinefwr Park property with its community and strengthen relationships with the local population.

“We also wanted to build on the success of our brand new food shop at Newton House”, said Carl, who has been in post since January this year.

“Our retail offer is performing significantly better than the retail sector in general and I put that down to locally sourced produce, a strong link to our special National Trust properties and of course my fantastic sales team.

“The National Trust would like to publicly thank the town of Llandeilo for their continued support and in particular our landlord for the festive period, Mr Rhidian Stephens of Morgans and The Cawdor Group.”

The Llandeilo Edwardian Christmas Fayre at Dinefwr will be held on November 29 and 30.
