An Ammanford Primary School cook has proved she is a class act after being named top of the chops.

Bethan Williams, a cook in charge of Ammanford Central Kitchen where she provides hot meals for many of towns youngsters, has been awarded Primary School Caterer of the Year - award which recognises those who go that extra mile.

Bethan has been employed by Carmarthenshire County Council’s catering services department for the past 13 years.

The awards ceremony held at Royal Garden Hotel and was hosted by EDUcatering magazine to celebrate the very best in educational catering.

The award was presented to council nutrition officer, Caryl Mair Jones, and catering manager, Cheryl Jones, on behalf of Bethan for her efforts in ensuring that Ammanford children enjoy mouth-watering menus in a fun and friendly environment each day.

Catering services manager Sandra Weigel said: “We are all incredibly proud of Bethan.

“It really shows how much knowledge our catering teams possess and how well they look after every pupil’s catering needs.”

The award follows Sandra’s own success earlier this year when she won a Welsh and national Outstanding Achievement Awards as well as leading her team to the title of Welsh Catering Management Team of the Year award.
