Met Office officials are warning of 60mph gales across south Wales this evening.
The combination of strong winds and high tides has led to the issuing of a Yellow Alert from 6pm this evening until 9am tomorrow.
The forecast means residents are being urged to “be aware”.
“Southwesterly winds will strengthen through Wednesday evening with gales expected overnight,” a Met Office spokesman said.
“Gusts are likely to reach 50mph quite widely, with 60mph gusts possible across exposed coasts and headlands, and also in association with squally, thundery showers.
“Winds will then moderate through Thursday morning.”
