THREE little troopers from Cwmllynfell, have been raising money for Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity dedicated to supporting the children of men and women killed while serving in the British Armed Forces.

Sisters Caris Haf Llewelyn, 11, Llian Mai, eight, and Nansi Morse, ten, from Heol y Coed Cae, organised their own stall at a fun-day in Cwmllynfell Community Hall where they sold wrist bands and taught other children how to make Loom Bands in order to raise as much money as they could for the charity.

Caris said: “We wanted to do something to help so we made and sold Loom Bands to the children who came to the fun day. We organised it all by ourselves.

“Then, to raise more money we sold a lot of the wrist bands at school and to our friends and family.

“We have really enjoyed it, and we hope we have raised lots of money for the charity.”

All the money raised from different events organised across the country, goes towards providing treats, outings, trips and activities for families of the fallen, with the aim of offering a respite, however brief, from the daily ups and downs of coping without a loved one.

Mum Melanie said: “I took the girls to the Armed Forces Day in Cardiff, and we stopped and talked to the charity organisers.

“The girls were adamant they wanted to help and raise money for the cause.

“I’m so proud of them, they have done really, really well.

“The girls don’t know exactly how much they have raised yet, but once they have sent the collection box away, they should get a letter by post letting them how much.

“They are proper little troopers, and they are very excited.”

It is also an exciting time for the charity, as it attended the Pride of Britain Awards on Monday evening, and represented the fundraisers nominated for raising millions for charity.
