A trio of hardy fundraisers are set for a bone-shaking challenge when they get behind the wheel of an Austin Maestro and race across Europe.

The Twp Gear Challenge undertaken by three members of Llandeilo and Llandovery Round Table aims to drive their car between five European cities in five days and raise up to £5000 for Wales Air Ambulance.

Edward Rees, Eifion Hopkins and Richard John will leave on September 10 and aim to include London, Brussels, Amsterdam, Luxembourg and Cardiff on their route.

Edward said, "We're planning to stop off at the Nürburgring and possibly set their slowest lap record".

Thirty-three sponsors have paid £50 each to contribute a sticker to the car; they've had free insurance from the NFU and M+J Motors gave the car a free service.

Following the boys return there's a fundraising 80s Disco at Llandeilo Civic Hall on the September 20; £10 entry including food and bar. Picture by Mark Davies
