A Towy Valley woman found to be almost four times the limit has told a court she did not have a drink until after she reversed into the garden wall of her ex-husband’s neighbour.
Helen Angela Edwards, of The Paddocks in Caio, appeared at Llanelli court to deny driving while over limit and driving without insurance following the incident on June 11.
District Judge David Parsons was told how the 40-year-old had visited the new wife of her ex-husband and while leaving the property at 9.10pm collided with the neighbour’s wall.
When police arrived at her home at 10.35pm, Edwards initially told officers she had not drunk since the incident, prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard Jones told the court.
A breath test showed that Edwards had 135 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
Edwards later said she had drunk half a litre of vodka after arriving home.
Edwards admitted driving without a valid licence.
The case was adjourned for trial at Carmarthenshire Magistrates Court on September 13.
