Carmarthenshire East and Dinefwr Jonathan Edwards is one of Wales hardest-working politicians, according to the latest statistics.

Figures from Hansard - the official record of the House of Commons - show that Mr Edwards made 422 contributions at Westminster this year, including taking part in 200 debates.

The statistics show that the Plaid Cymru MP has taken part in the fourth largest number of debates of all Welsh MPs.

Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM said: "Jonathan Edwards has clearly made his mark in Parliament. Of course it is quality not quantity that matters, but his record shows he gives us both.

"Jonathan Edwards prides himself on being Carmarthenshire's voice in Westminster."

Mr Edwards said: "Contributing to debates in the House of Commons is only one part of the job.

"The most important part of my role is back here in the constituency, meeting residents and community groups to see what I can do to help improve their lives.

"It is the communities of Carmarthenshire that shape each and every one of my Parliamentary contributions.”
