A selection of some of the cases appearing at Llanelli magistrates court over the past few weeks.

LLANELLI magistrates have fined a Towy Valley man £80 after he admitted to speeding.

Mark Coleman, aged 50, of Galltyfydr, Esgardawe, Llandeilo, was caught doing 36 miles per hour on the A482 Cwmann, near Lampeter, where the limit is 30 miles per hour.

Coleman also received three penalty points and must pay £80 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

A second charge of failing to identify a driver was withdrawn.

AN AMMANFORD motorist who broke the speed limit has been fined £80 by Llanelli magistrates.

Ian William Laing, aged 53, of Unit 2, Food Laboratory Wales Ltd, Clos Fferws, Capel Hendre, admitted to driving at 37 miles per hour on a 30 miles per hour limit stretch of road at Cribyn in January.

He was also ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge and his; licence was endorsed with three penalty points.

A SWANSEA Valley man drove at almost twice the legal speed limit, Llanelli magistrates have heard.

James Owen, aged 34, of The Stables, Glanffwrd, Pontarddulais, admitted he was caught driving at 59 miles per hour at Dolfor, Powys, in April. The limit there is 30 miles per hour.

Owen was fined £450 by magistrates who also issued him with five penalty points and ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £45 victim surcharge.

AN AMMANFORD woman, who drove at 36 miles per hour on a 30 miles per hour limit road, has been fined £200 by Llanelli magistrates.

Ann Marie Siddle, aged 29, of 37 Parc Gwernen, Fforest Fach, Tycroes, was not in court and entered no plea for the offence which happened in Ponterwyd, in January.

Her licence was endorsed with three penalty points and she must also pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

BEING the keeper of a registered vehicle that did not meet insurance requirements has cost a Ammanford man £40 after he was fined by Llanelli magistrates.

Gian Francesco Barone, aged 50, of 120 Waterloo Road, admitted the offence and was also ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge.

LLANELLI Magistrates have fined a number of motorists who have all failed to notify the DVLA of change of ownership of a vehicle.

Denise Pitts, aged 48, of Croft Bungalow, Amman Road, Brynaman, was found guilty in her absence and was fined £200 with £90 costs.

Nia Rees, aged 27, of 43 High Street, Ammanford, was also fined £200 with £90 costs after magistrates found her guilty, she was not in court.

Magistrates also convicted Nicole Smart, aged 40, from Pant Glas, Llandyfan, proving the case in her absence and fining her £200 with £90 costs.

All must also pay a £20 victim surcharge.

AN AMMANFORD man who paid for road tax with a cheque which then bounced has been fined £200.

Donald James Woolfe, of Don’s Coaches, 3 Bancyddraenen, Capel Hendre, paid £181.50 by cheque for road tax at Ammanford in March only for the cheque to be dishonoured by the bank.

He then failed to return the void licence within seven days.

Llanelli magistrates proved the case in his absence and also ordered Woolfe to pay £55 back duty, £90 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
