Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Commissioner Christopher Salmon spent his time at the National Eisteddfod gathering opinion on how crime victims should be supported.

Mr Salmon and his staff asked participants at the festival in Llanelli, which took place August 2-9, how those suffering from crime would best like to report an incident as well as access assistance and advice.

The Commissioner, who lives in Llandeilo, said: “I want all victims in Dyfed-Powys to get the support they need to cope with the immediate impacts of crime.

“Nobody who suffers a crime should feel unsupported.”

Mr Salmon is in the process of creating an online directory of victims’ services and aims to discover how the public would best like to access it.

He said: “This directory will be there to help people at difficult times in their lives – so how should it be presented online? How should it be promoted and how can I ensure that any printed copies don’t simply sit on shelves?”

Visitors to the Maes were also asked for their views on other matters affecting their communities, such as antisocial behaviour.

Participants also voiced their views on Mr Salmon’s role, confidence in the police and how volunteering can be made increasingly attractive.
