An Ammanford optician is hoping to raise hundreds of pounds for charity by completing a solo skydive.

Specsavers Optical assistant, Zoe Davies, 26, will be taking on the charity challenge to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

To help boost Zoe’s fundraising total, the Ammanford Specsavers team are holding a fun day in the store on Saturday , August 30. Staff will be donning fancy dress and baking treats for a cake stall, as well as offering visitors face painting, a tombola, and a glasses ‘MOT’ for a small donation.

Kevin McCarthy, director of Specsavers in Ammanford, said: "We are all really proud of Zoe for taking on this personal challenge for such a deserving cause.

"The rest of the team are all really looking forward to the fun day on August 30. I hope that the activities will attract lots of people into the store.

"We’re encouraging members of the local community to call in to enjoy the activities on offer in the store, and help Zoe raise as much as possible."

Zoe said: "The Alzheimer’s Society is a cause very close to my heart, and it continues to inspire me to raise as much money as I can. It’s fantastic that the rest of the team in store have got behind my goal, too.

"The money we raise will make a real different to families across Wales that are affected by Alzheimer’s."

The sky dive will take place at Swansea Airport on Sunday, September 7, and is being organised with the help of Delusion Events Swansea.
