Members of Carmarthenshire’s branches of the Women’s Institute are set to host a stand at the National Eisteddfod next month.
The stand will display the exhibition ‘Grow/Tyfu’ with Merlin’s Old Carmarthen Oak Tree as its focal point and visitors will be able to learn about the milestones of the WI’s history.
Daily events are set to include a treasure hunt for children, a limerick competition and a craft demonstration, including silk painting and flower arranging. Children’s craft activities will also take place throughout the week.
Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be served.
The Carmarthenshire WI Federation will also be launching a bilingual recipe book at the stand at noon on Monday, August 4, with S4C presenter Elinor Jones.
Ann Jones, Chair of the Federations of Wales Committee, said: “The WI’s presence at the National Eisteddfod is one of the key highlights of the WI calendar in Wales.
“It provides us with a platform to showcase the WI, highlighting the unique role that the WI plays in giving women an opportunity to get their voices heard at all levels of society.”
Visitors can find the WI at the National Eisteddfod stands 1019 to 1021 from August 2 to August 9.
