A Carmarthenshire charity is calling for donations of unwanted items that can be used to help their fundraising efforts.

Carmarthenshire People First, a support and advocacy group for individuals with learning disabilities in the county, would welcome unwanted clothes, CDs, DVDs and items of bric-a-brac that could be sold at car boot sales and online.

The charity is also seeking a working computer or laptop for members to host their online fundraising efforts.

Three of the Carmarthenshire People First team were in Ammanford last week asking town businesses to place donation boxes on their counters - and they were delighted by the welcome they received.

"It was great to have so many Ammanford shops and businesses offering their support to a local charity," said Sharon Williams.

"Small charities like Carmarthenshire People First rely on the support of the community and we were surprised and really happy with the numbers of companies who were willing to take our boxes and put them on shop counters.

"We are hoping people will also be willing to donate unwanted items that we can sell at boot sales and using online auction sites to help us generate vital funds."

Carmarthenshire People First supports people with learning disabilities in the county to live independent lives and make key decisions on the issues they face in life.

The Guardian is delighted to have a Carmarthenshire People First charity box on our counter for when people wish to put their small change "in the charity box".
