A delegation from the UK Government’s Select Committee for Welsh Affairs travelled to South America to strengthen bonds with the historic Welsh community in Patagonia.
Carmarthen East and Dinefwr MP Jonathan Edwards, along with Llanelli MP Nia Griffith, were part of the group who visited the Welsh Cultural Centre – known as the Salon - at Esquel in the Andean region of Chubut.
The visit marked the renaming of the Salon in honour of the Llandybie-based Welsh teacher Hazel Charles Evans, who spent many years teaching Welsh in Esquel and neighbouring Trevelin.
Hazel officially opened the Salon in 2002.
