A former Llandybie man has appeared in court accused of a string of historic rape and sexual assault charges against a schoolgirl in Llandeilo.

Phillip Adrian Morgan, aged 46, faces allegations that he raped the girl – who cannot be named for legal reasons – between July 26, 1992, and January 8, 1995.

The girl was under the age of 16 at the time of the alleged incident.

Morgan is also accused of the attempted rape of the same girl on July 25, 1992, and again between July 26, 1992, and January 8, 1993, when she was less than 14.

Morgan also faces five charges of indecently assaulting the girl between January 9, 1989, and January 8, 1993, and three counts of inciting the girl to commit acts of gross indecency between January 9, 1989, and January 1, 1993.

Morgan entered no plea to any of the charges when he appeared before District Judge David Parsons, sitting at Llanelli court.

The case was sent to Swansea Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on April 25.
