Minister Edwina Hart to see Ammanford's traffic chaos
3:44pm Tuesday 15th October 2013 in Ammanford news
WELSH Transport Minister Edwina Hart is coming to Ammanford to witness the town’s traffic problems at first hand.
She will also visit Llandeilo where work on the long-awaited bypass – which is expected to end years of pollution and traffic congestion in the town – is programmed to start at the end of 2016.
County councillor Colin Evans said phase two of the A483 distributor road was vital if Ammanford’s traffic congestion was to be eased.
“Everyone knows we have an acute problem here between 8.10am and 9.15am and from around 3.45pm until after 5pm,” he added.
“An invitation has been sent to Edwina Hart to visit Rhosmaen Street in Llandeilo and also come down to Ammanford and see the problems we are having and the economic impact it’s having on the town.”
In Llandeilo, campaigners say buildings are being damaged, pavements are cracking up and asthma sufferers are increasing as traffic pollution soars above EU limits.
Cllr Evans added that there were provisional plans for Ms Hart to visit early next month.
