Snow’s a hit-and-miss affair
FRIDAY’S wintry weather proved a mixed bag for the county with some areas suffering badly while others barely saw a flake.
Parts of the Amman Valley, from Glanaman to Brynaman were blanketed in deep snow while Ammanford itself received little more than a dusting.
The samewas true of the Towy Valley where a few centimetres fell on Llandeilo, but Llandovery was largely unaffected.
Many parts of the Gwendraeth Valley received a full covering, with traffic all but at a standstill in Tumble and Cross Hands.
Betws and Tycroes saw some of the heaviest snow, with the conditions causing at least one minor road accident near Coopers. But while most roads remained open, many residents took heed of emergency service warnings and opted to stay indoors.
However, staying at home did not necessarily mean staying warm as the weather caused power cuts – often in villages that failed to see a flake of snow settle all day.
