Grand start for new look village hall

GLORIOUS sunshine provided the perfect setting the for the grand opening of Trap Village Hall.

The old school, purchased for the community with the aid of Big Lottery funding was officially opened by Lord Dynevor, whose generosity and support has been tremendous.

The day was extremely well attended, not only by the local community but others too. including many former pupils.

Following the opening ceremony which included good wishes from both David Saunders, chairman of Dyffryn Cennen Community Council, and county councillor Edward Thomas, there were also delightful reminiscences of school days and entertaining verses and songs, along with a presentation of a new piano in memory of Gareth and Mary Thomas, by their daughter and son in law, Julie and Wyn Jones, and the fun run presentation cheque for £600 from Trap Show.

In the evening, festivities continued with a barbecue and social night including fun bingo.

The new hall also incorporates a community shop and cafe which will be run by volunteers and will be open each day except Monday.
