Wanted: 608 elves!

A WORLD record attempt at the largest gathering of Santa’s elves will be staged in Ammanford’s Quay Street on Saturday, November 17, the Guardian can exclusively reveal.

Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd, responsible for ongoing works in the towncentre, is seeking would-be elves to try to earn Ammanford a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

“The record stands at 607 and I’mquietly confident we can beat that,” said spokesperson Gail Jones.

“The shopkeepers are really excited and our boys are right behind it. I’m nowlooking to recruit elves from local schools, colleges and rugby clubs – anywhere I can, really.”

Anyone wishing to take part can contact Ms Jones – who will be manning a stall in Quay Street on Fridays – on 07966 318 171.

●Ammanford town council have confirmed the world record attempt will coincide with the town’s Christmas lights switch-on.
