Hot date at Ammanford fire station

AMMANFORD Fire Station is hosting an action-packed open day on Saturday, October 6 (10am to 3pm) when Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service will encourage people to join local firefighters to enjoy a whole host of games, activities, refreshments and demonstrations.

There will be various different fire engines to see including the aerial rescue pump and play fire engine. There will be various live demonstrations, including a chip pan fire and community safety and road traffic collision displays. Stalls selling merchandise such as Blaze Bear toys and children’s fire helmets will also be there. Local fire fighters and community safety staff will be on hand to chat to visitors about the fire and rescue service and its work in helping to keep communities safe from fire.

Craig Flannery, community safety station manager said: “This is a great opportunity to meet the Ammanford Fire and Rescue personnel and see the activities they are involved in on a daily basis.”

There is no entry fee for the open day and all proceeds from the day will be donated to The Firefighters Charity, which is the UK’s leading provider of services that enhance quality of life for serving and retired firefighters and their families.
