IT’S all systems go for Ammanford’s Splash Pads after the town council confirmed this week they have received final grant funding for the planned water feature in Ammanford Park.
The council initially gained £25,000 through the County Collaboration Fund set up through Carmarthenshire County Council .
Following this £50,000 was gleaned through the Waste Recycling Environmental Group Ltd.
With funding also being made available through Section 106 money and a donation from the Ammanford Youth Council, a final £25,000 came through the Sustainable Hubs Key Fund, funded by the Welsh Government Western Valleys Regeneration Area, Communities First, Carmarthenshire County Council and in partnership with Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council.
Town clerk Mirriam Phillips said there had been extensive consultation to gauge enthusiasm for the project. “This will be a huge boost to the area and will be a facility which young families and visitors to the town can use free of charge,” she added.
The Splash Pads are expected to be opened next June.
