£1m Quay Street work 'will be done on time'

AMMANFORD town councillors have received assurances that the £1m Quay Street works will be completed on time.

The news was welcomed by members who pointed out the works had proved disruptive to local businesses, all of whom had reported lower sales.

“People have been questioningwhy the work is being done at all,” said Cllr Chris Jones.

“What many don’t realise is that the street was deteriorating badly and that there were concerns about the safety of the public – the finished street should be a vast improvement.”

At last week’s meeting members agreed more was needed to improve Ammanford and the appearance of some buildings.

“There is a lot planned and much more energy now in the new-look Ammanford town council,” said Cllr Jones. “We all want a bigger role in ensuring Ammanford gets what it deserves.”

is this a bandwagon or is everybody saying the same thing.. it will be ready for christmas.

christmas will not be cancelled even if they didn't. but it will be finished on time on the basis that they are working additional hours in the evening.

which poses a question: where is the additional money coming from or is it in the original one million pounds?

'can't believe that street is costing that much but there you go
