FIERCE storms, flash floods – and now giant cannibal slugs!

The soggy summer of 2012 has seemingly had everything, apart from consistently sunny weather, obviously.

So the revelation that we are now in the midst of an invasion by slimy monsters measuring up to six inches will have gardeners reacting in despair.

Are these interlopers here to stay?

Or will they prove unique products of this crazy summer?

CONGRATULATIONS to local charity fundraisers Sue Ladd and Janet Bradbourn who have each been awarded the British Empire Medal for their tireless efforts.

Both – along with their fellow recipients – have sacrificed so much time and energy in order to help others and fully deserve this recognition.

AMMANFORD town councillors have received assurances that the extensive Quay Street works are on schedule and will be finished on time.

This news will undoubtedly be welcomed by local traders, who have been taking something of a hammering in recent months. Whatever we may think of the timing of this £1m revamp, let us hope that it will indeed prove money well spent.
