Llandeilo bypass talks are ‘positive’

A MEETING between local politicians, Assembly transport officials and town council representatives regarding the proposed Llandeilo bypass and Ammanford relief roads have been described as “very positive”.

The meeting was called to provide town councillors with an opportunity to question Welsh government officials on the projects and bring some clarity on the future of the schemes. On the Llandeilo bypass, AM Rhodri Glyn Thomas said the issue had been discussed for almost 40 years, but that the meeting will have kickstarted “real progress”.

Referring to phase two of the Ammanford Relief Road, Jonathan Edwards MP said the project might benefit from European funding provided the county council made its bid by 2014.

MrThomas said: “Itwas a highly positive meeting which provided an opportunity for councillors to share their comments on the two proposed schemes and for us to learn of the Welsh government’s intentions in the area.”MrEdwards labelled the meeting “extremely informative”.
