Former Betws man, 32, found dead in supermarket car park

A former Betws man has been found dead in one of Swansea’s busiest retail parks just days after his release from prison.

The body of Glyn David Idris Jones, aged 32, was discovered near the Tesco superstore at Fforestfach at 10.50am on Friday, police have said.

It is believed that Mr Jones’ body was found in the car park area.

Emergency services were called to the scene soon after the discovery, but all attempts to revive Mr Jones failed.

A police spokesman said Mr Jones’ death was currently being treated as “unexplained”.

However, the spokesman said it was not being treated as suspicious.

Mr Jones’ father told the Guardian his son had been released fromprison a week prior to his death and was a known drug user.

Mr Jones said his son had grown up in Betws and also lived in Ammanford before moving to Swansea.

A police spokesman said: “South Wales Police are investigating the discovery of the body of a male near the Tesco supermarket at Fforestfach, Swansea, at around 10.50am on Friday.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and there are no suspicious circumstances.”

Afile has been opened by the coroner.
