Hunt for cat sniper

A BETWS schoolgirl has condemned the person responsible for shooting her cat with an airgun as “horrible and heartless”.

MooMoo, Jordaan Stewart’s three-year-old pet, was targeted in the vicinity of her family’s home in Colonel Road overnight between Saturday, July 28, and Sunday, July 29.

A vet subsequently removed a pellet from its broken leg.

“I cannot believe anyone could be so horrible and heartless,”

Jordaan, 13, told the Guardian.

“MooMoo is a really good cat.”

The cat is now recovering but Jordaan is appealing for anyone who can identify the culprit to contact police.

“It’s so important,” she added.

A police spokesman confirmed MooMoo had sustained serious injuries which required costly treatment.

“This has caused the family considerable distress,” he added.

“MooMoo is a black and white cat and is extremely friendly. He does not usually venture far from the family home.

“We are appealing for anyone with any information about this incident, or who may have witnessed anything suspicious, to contact police on 101.”
