Ammanford will get new pump after all

A SECOND rural response pump will be based at Ammanford fire station after all, Mid and West Wales fire chiefs confirmed this week.

The announcement follows concerns raised by MP Jonathan Edwards and county councillor Deian Harries that the station would lose its second main appliance to the new station at Gwaun cae Gurwen.

“Ammanford station is very important to the service and houses some of the most advanced equipment available within the fire service,”

said Mr Edwards.

“I’m very pleased the constructive representations we have made on behalf of the crew have been welcomed by the fire service and that the Amman Valley will have more resources available than it ever has.”

A Mid and West Wales Fire Service spokesman said the second pump would be in place by the autumn.
