Garnant man faces jail for tan salon assault

A GARNANT man has been warned a prison sentence could follow after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a teenage girl inside a tanning salon.

Glyndwr Thomas, aged 41, had denied indecently touching the 15- year-old as she lay on a sunbed.

But he was unanimously convicted by a jury after a trial at Swansea Crown Court.

The girl had told how Thomas, of Parc Glanffrwd, had given her a lift to the Easy Tan salon on College Street, Ammanford.

She said she entered a cubicle and undressed. As she lay on a bed waiting for the machine to start Thomas walked in.

The teenager said she covered her private parts with her hands but Thomas reached over her as if to press a start button.

But in the process he touched her indecently.

Thomas, a long distance lorry driver, claimed the incident had never happened.

After the verdict Judge Paul Thomas agreed to postpone sentencing until a probation officer had prepared a report into his background. Judge Thomas granted bail until July 16 but warned Thomas that did not mean a prison sentence would not be the outcome.

He was ordered to register with the police as a sex offender.
