'We need speed bumps in Betws'

THE AMMANFORD area has been “somewhat forgotten” as far as traffic-calming measures are concerned, according to a local policeman.

Pc Kevin Jones felt a strong case could be made for speed bumpsin parts of Betws, pointing out that such traffic-calming measures had proved effective in theAmmanValley.

“Ammanford has been forgotten when it comes to speed humps – there’s no doubt there is speeding here,” he said.

Pc Jones made his comments after Betws community councillors had once again raised the issue of speeding along Maesquarre Road – although Cllr Anne Sizmur argued that the problem in Betws Road was more serious.

Pc Jones pledged that the matter would be given priority and added that he would raise the concerns with traffic manager John McEvoy.
