Horror at badger 'slaughter'

A BETWS community councillor has condemned the callous motorist she claims deliberately ran over a baby badger, leaving it to die in agony in the road.

Cllr Annette Price told colleagues that the tiny creature – known as a kit – was crossing the highway near Glanyrafon when it was mown down.

“This guy deliberately drove over it and left it to die,” she said. “That poor little thing was screaming and it took two minutes for it to die. I’m an animal lover, but anyone would have been shocked by what I saw. After it was all over I went into the park and vomited.”

Cllr Price thanked police who attended the scene as well as a young motorist who stopped to help. “Both of us were a bit distraught,” she said. “The police were fantastic and took the little carcass off the road.”
