4:40pm Friday 18th May 2012 in News
A GROUP of 30 women golfers from Pontardawe are celebrating a Lotto win of £99,023, aftermatching five numbers and the bonus ball in the Lotto draw.
The friends are all members of the ladies’ section at the Swansea Valley club.
Pat Jones, co-leader of the syndicate, said: “We’re all so pleased to be able to share in everyone’s delight.
“We get a lot of pleasure from a shared interest in golf and winning more than £3,000 each will help us in a variety of ways.
“There have been lots of congratulations from fellow club members and we’ll celebrate together soon by going out for a lovely meal – if we can find somewhere good that’ll take all 30 of us!”
The winners are aged from their 30s to 70s. They always play 15 lines in the Saturday night Lotto draw– a weekly outlay of 50p each.
The syndicate has been together in its current form for around nine months.
Pat said: “I missed Saturday’s Lotto draw on TV but a syndicate member saw it and phoned me, saying she thought we’d won.
“I checked and couldn’t believe it. I called her back and that set in motion a series of phone calls around the group. The reactions fromindividuals ranged frompeople being absolutely dumbfounded, silent and disbelieving to being hysterical with excitement!
“Amazingly, one member recently told me that she’d had a premonition that we’d win big. I hope she has the same dream again soon!”
The winning ticket was bought at Tesco in Pontardawe.
