THE father of the so-called ‘Wolfman’ of Pantyffynnon tips has made an impassioned plea for his son to get in touch.

In the week that 37-year-old Wayne John Morgan was officially classed as missing, his worried dad Arfon said: “You know where I am, Wayne - I just want to know you’re okay.”

Mr Morgan, of Hendre Road, Ammanford, was speaking after police appealed for help from the public in tracing his reclusive son whois thought tohave eked out a living on the densely-wooded tips for a number of years.

Wayne was nicknamed ‘The Wolfman’ by local kids and has become something of a cult figure after a series of articles in the Guardian revealed his alternative lifestyle.

But a worried Mr Morgan disclosed thisweekthathehadnot seen his son for four years. “Wayne knows how to survive on the land, but hypothermia can get anyone, no matter howgood they are,” he said.

“I think he learnt a lot from his time with the National Trust - he’s certainly not an ex-serviceman, as one of the papers reported.

“It’s been a veryawkward time, to be honest - many times I’ve taken the dog up on the tips hoping to find him or at least leave out a bag of food.

“Wayne and I always got on. He used to turn up at my house every Sunday and at Christmas - but that was a while back.

“Wayne’s very quiet, very intelligent and strong-willed but wouldn’t hurt a fly.”

Sergeant Teresa Ross said: “I’d ask anyone in the Pantyfynnon and Tycroes area who may have seen this man to let us know when any sightings took place.”
