A MOTORIST stopped at Cross Hands for driving the wrong way along a dual carriageway had a sex device up his bottom, a judge heard.

Shane Roblin, 42, was naked from the waist down and “clearly intoxicated”.

But he would only tell officers: “I’m just out for a spin.”

Roblin admitted dangerous driving and refusing to provide a sample for testing. He was jailed for ten months and banned from driving for three years.

Christine Jones, prosecuting, told Swansea Crown Court horrified police driving east on the A48 dual carriageway in the early hours of September 27, saw Roblin’s Transit van heading towards them. They turned on sirens and blue lights, but Roblin responded by turning off hisownlights and driving straight past. Three miles later, at the Cross Hands roundabout, police were able to stop Roblin at a roadblock.

An officer who opened the door of the van saw a battery rolling around on the driver’s seat. Further investigation revealed a battery pack and a wire leading to an egg-shaped sex aid inserted into Roblin’s bottom.

Roblin, of Brynhyfryd Road, Gorseinon, Swansea, later turned violent at Ammanford police station and had to be placed into handcuffs and leg irons. His barrister, Carina Hughes, said he was ashamed and embarrassed. “He cannot explain why he was in such a state of undress.

“He assures me that alcohol was not a factor that night, although alcohol has been a serious issue in the past. Nor had he taken any illegal substance, as far as he knows.”

Judge Richard Twomlow said Roblin’s behaviour had not been “terribly logical” and he was clearly intoxicated by something. “You failed to provide a specimen for testing.

You don’t want anyone to know why or how you were intoxicated and you had a sexual aid between your legs.

“This was bizarre and dangerous behaviour,” he added.
