A 22-year-old Penygroes man has denied carrying out a horrific attack on an elderly man that led to the victim losing consciousness.
David Leyton Rees, of 17 Caebryn Road, denied causing grievous bodily harm without intent to Selwyn Miller at the Ammanford Social Club on Wind Street at 8.50pm on July 17.
Lesley Harborn, prosecuting, told Ammanford magistrates court that Rees was accused of lifting Mr Miller up by the legs "and slamming his head into the floor".
Following the incident, Mr Miller - described in court as being in his 60s, frail and with severe health issues - was taken to West Wales General Hospital, Glangwilli, with a fractured collarbone.
During treatment at the hospital, Mr Miller suffered a series of epileptic fits and lost consciousness.
Rees denied the charge.
Magistrates declined jurisdiction and committed the case for trial at Swansea Crown Court.
Rees will next appear at Ammanford magistrates court on January 13 when committal papers are due to be served transferring the case to Swansea Crown Court.
