Steve Rees, from Brynaman, and DVLA work-mates Huw Evans and Paul Stevens tackled an arduous 62-mile ride to raise funds following the death of Steve’s dad David, who passed away after losing his battle with kidney cancer in 2009.
The trio of bikers raised £800 in aid of the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer Research by pedalling their way from Brynaman to Aberystwyth, completing the ride in six hours and 45 minutes.
"Obviously it was a very difficult time for the family and by way of dealing with the grief, we decided to try and raise money for a charity chosen by my mother, Marlene Rees;" said Steve.
Marlene has raised in excess the sum of £4,474.57 since April, through various events from table-top sales finishing with a very successful charity entertainment night at Cwmgors Rugby club.
Steve’s sister Louise Manson also helped raising money by doing a sponsored walk in Haverfordwest.
The family would like to thank everyone who helped support these events.
