AN Ammanford church has had to close its doors on Sunday mornings because its congregation has outgrown the building - and churchgoers are now going back to school!

Because of increasing numbers it has now been decided that from Sunday, October 17, the Ammanford Evangelical Church's Sunday morning service will be held at Amman Valley School.

Pastor Jonathon Thomas said: "It's been great to see people of all different ages joining our church over the last few years, and although we are planning an extension to our building, the number of people has grown faster than we can build!

"The school is a great location as it is so central, well known and welcoming. We are able to offer Sunday school and crèche facilities there, as well as having more room to mingle and chat after the service"

The long-term plan is to extend the Wind Street-based church building.

It is hoped that the new extension, along with increased seating capacity, will include a reception area and a room for the Sunday school.
