THERE will be live music, craft stalls, dance displays, circus and fire performers, maypole dancing, and more, at Pontardawe Arts Centre, and across the town at Pontardawe Spring Festival this Friday and Saturday.

Friday’s celebrations kick off at 4pm, with craft and food stalls around the arts centre. From 4pm-9pm dance and live music will take place on the outdoor stage, including The Busketeers, Farenheit, JDDance Co, Pontardawe Hip Hop group, and a drumming spectacular by Cwmtawe School. Then at dusk, circus and fire performers Organised Kaos backed by Celtic band Mandrake, will perform Celtic Beltane, featuring guests from No-fit State Circus.

The Demon Barbers will then be taking to the stage at the Pontardawe Arts Centre Theatre, while Silver play in the Pink Geranuim Pub.

Festivities re-commence at 10am on Saturday with the Pontardawe Duck Race on the canal at Herbert Street.

Live entertainment will include Victoria Trahar Irish Dancers, Trebanos Mixed Choir, Ysgol Gyfyn Ystalyfera, and Echo. Storytelling with Owen Staton and a bagpipe workshop will take place in the Arts Centre.

With Pontardawe’s very own Maypole, children and adults can join in this traditional May Day activity.

At 8pm in the Arts Centre Theatre, Dancing Fever will provide a night of Salsa dancing. There will also be an open performance session in the Arts Centre.

In the town, there will be live music all day at the Pontardawe Inn. The local Pub Fringe Festival in the evening promises even more entertainment: The Pink Geranuim will have the Lost Boys playing; the Ivy Bush will host The Osbones and The Other Place will also provide live entertainment.
