Chief planner addresses concerns

THE POTENTIALLY explosive meeting between Carmarthenshire Council's head of planning and Stand Your Ground failed to ignite after Eifion Bowen allegedly told the group he and his team would review all disputed files'.

Members of the Carmarthenshire group attended a meeting at The Boar's Head Hotel in Carmarthen last week and national co-ordinator Dafydd Morgan hailed the evening as constructive'.

After an initial presentation by Mr Bowen covering the county's planning enforcement criteria, which lasted 20 minutes, the planning chief answered a considerable number of questions and queries covering a wide range of issues.

"We would like to thank Mr Bowen for attending our meeting last night and his undertaking that he will review all the matters raised through the group with a view to resolving the current disputes."

Planning chief Eifion Bowen said: "I thought it was a very constructive meeting.

"It was decided that individuals who had concerns would give their names to the chairman of the group and he will write to me.

"I will respond to them.

"The meeting was made up of a variety of people who had concerns about planning including instances where we had taken enforcement action, cases where we had not, cases where we had refused planning permission and others where we had approved it.

"I also had people come up to me afterwards with general queries about planning."

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 24 at The Boars Head Hotel at 7pm.
