A 35-YEAR battle to obtain outline planning permission for a field beside the Cressely Arms at Pontargothi has finally been successful.
Carmarthenshire councillors have allowed the construction of 15 new homes, on condition that four of them are “affordable” and £30,000 is provided for local education services.
County planners were told the first application was made in 1975, with the most recent – in February of last year – for 20 dwellings.
Llanegwad Community Council objected to the development, because of its scale, its impact on the character of the village. Mr Geraint Jones was ordered to make a contribution towards open spaces in close proximity to the site as a further condition.
