AMMANFORD and Llandybie Twinning Associations are among only 10 projects in the UK to receive funding from an elite EU programme.
The funding has been awarded from the EU funding programme “Europe for Citizens” – a competitive programme with 135 projects funded across the whole EU.
Ammanford and Llandybie are twinned with the French towns of Breuillet and Ploneour, and both association have prepared a full programme of activities for the visit of people from their twin towns.
The two associations are members of the Carmarthenshire Twinning Forum, which was established to provide support to the County’s twinning associations.
Lorena Prist, European networking officer at the West Wales European Centre, said: “For Carmarthenshire to be granted funding for three organisations (St Clears is the other) is remarkable.
“We look forward to putting that money to good use by welcoming our visitors during 2010, and entertaining them with a programme of activities that will show Carmarthenshire at its best.”
