AN 8,500-signature petition calling for greater safety at the notorious Cwmgwili junction is being presented to Assembly chiefs.
Local AM Rhodri Glyn Thomas, who received the petition from local residents, will present it to the Assembly’s petitions committee.
“This is a very serious issue that has had some tragic examples of why action needs to be taken,” he said.
“I have raised this matter with the minister for transport, Ieuan Wyn Jones, and I know the area’s councillor, John Edwards, has also been very active on the matter.
“The number of signatures collected demonstrate how strong the feeling is locally.
“I will be presenting the petition to allow them to consider the matter in more depth and continue to build support for action to be taken to prevent any further accidents.”
