PROPOSALS for a former warehouse site in Llandeilo to be used for housing look set to be approved at a planning meeting in Carmarthen tomorrow.

An application for land adjacent to Thomas Terrace to be made available for residential development goes before Carmarthenshire Council’s planning committee tomorrow morning.

The outline application, submitted by Mr L Griffiths, has been supported by the council’s head of transport and local councillor Ieuan Jones.

It has been recommended for approval by officer Jonathan Locke.

The most likely design of the properties, which would have to be given planning permission, is six small one-bedroom dwellings with an integral garage.

Fourteen neighbours have been consulted and only two letters of objection have been received, with both coming from the same resident.

This raised concerns over access to the new homes and the design of any future properties.

But Mr Locke allayed those fears, saying: “Regarding the concerns over parking and the effect that the extra traffic would have on the local highway network, the head of transport has responded with no objection to the proposed development.

“Regarding the concern over the compatibility of any proposed design with the surrounding area, this would be considered and assessed at the detailed application stage with only the principle of siting residential development up for consideration.”
