A driver was arrested after a 24-year-old passenger died when a car hit a tree at Ystradgynlais at the weekend.
The fatally injured woman was cut free by firefighters after the collision on a bend in the A4067.
Dyfed-Powys Police said a white Audi saloon left the road opposite the Caerlan junction near Veola Transport Yard just after 11pm on Saturday.
The driver is being questioned at Brecon police station. Two other passengers received neck injuries and were taken to Morriston Hospital in Swansea. Police say there were four passengers in the Audi. Police said the name of the dead woman was not being released until next-of-kin are contacted.
