POLICE are investigating after a number of businesses in Ammanford were targeted during a spate of burglaries and criminal damage on Sunday evening.
Try Angles, Top Cuts in Baptist Lane and the Bazaar in Wind Street all had windows broken – some by breezeblocks.
But Inspector Paul Williams assured members of the town council on Monday night that the net was closing in on the perpetrators.
“It’s true we’ve had a few instances of instances of criminal damage and a number of burglaries,” he said. “We are pursuing an active line of enquiry.”
Angela Phillips of Try Angles which stocks soft furnishings and beds, said: “They kicked in a window and gained access to a storeroom but there’s so much stuff there we don’t yet know if anything was taken.”
Sunday night’s incidents came as Insp Williams revealed criminal damage remained an issue throughout the Ammanford sector.
“There are no hot spots,” he said. “But our current priorities are anti-social behaviour in Ammanford town and we will continue patrolling in Ammanford Park.”
